In the heart of the British countryside between Canterbury and Whitstable, the Whitstable Bay Vets Surgery stands as a testament to our commitment to blending tradition with innovation. Developed in collaboration with the Lee Evans Partnership in 2016, this project seamlessly integrated the architectural beauty of visible glulam in the roof structure, evoking a sense of craftsmanship and design.
Drawing its design inspiration from the historic barn structures that dotted the landscape, the building is enveloped in a larch facade. This not only offers a nod to the site's storied past but also encapsulates modern low-energy construction techniques, underscoring our dedication to sustainability.
At Krivaja, we took pride in bringing this vision to life by prefabricating the entire structure in Bosnia. From there, it was carefully shipped to the UK, ready for assembly. Our innovative 'kit' building approach, reminiscent of a jigsaw puzzle, ensured each piece fit perfectly, dramatically reducing both construction time and costs. Yet, despite the streamlined process, we ensured the building retained the robustness and intricate detailing seen in more traditional builds. Our role in this landmark project extended beyond just the structure. We crafted the custom larch facade, integrated the beautiful visible glued laminated beams in the roof, and provided the bespoke joinery, encompassing windows and doors, all culminating in a flawless on-site assembly.
